Only Homer could put it so well
So my roommate Dan brought home the Doom DVD last night. It was entertaining for those of us that still occasionally dream in Doom. The unrated version offers a seamless five and a half minutes of the first person POV.Oh, glory of glories. Oh heavenly testament to the eternal majesty of God's creation.
Holy macaroni!
But this post is anything but a movie review. This post is about me wanting to play Doom again.
It has indeed been a while since I'd last played The Game, but watching the background in the special features, I still recognized a majority of the levels. So I sent out today to see if I could find a copy of the first game, before it became Ultimate Doom. Little did I know what majesty was in story for me -- majesty rivaled only by the Burninator himself.
To make a long (and uninteresting) story short, the source code for The Game was released way back when and my new heroes, some super nerds, have modded and ported the game to new levels. This evening, Peter, Dan, and I fragged the shit out of each other on Westdeth using my new favorite game redux Doomsday. Move over Sim City 4, the super shotgun calls. Who are we to ignore it?
